The Legend of the Thirds - the history!

Created during the 2007/8 season, the Legends of Tring are in fact the 3rd team (mens) of Tring Hockey Club. Obviously being the best team in the club, it was justified in us having our own blog.

The current 'legend of the year' is Mr David Bonner of Buckingham, also known as the 'one armed bandit' who regularly salsa dances his way past opponents down the right wing with one arm behind his back!

The little cherub is shown above having received his award of legend of the year (akin to the ashes) at Tring HQ earlier this year.

Many other awards are given out at the end of season (we have to give ourselves prizes as let's face it no one else is going to ). Dan Thompson (Tommo, Mrs Doubtfire to give him his other aliases) regularly wins The Dan Thompson Award, awarded to the best player on the team called Dan Thompson. One year he was beaten in to second place.

Many players have played for the Legends, but do they all understand what it means to earn the accolade "True Legend"?

So should outsiders wish to join the 'legends' what are the criteria ? :O)

The criteria would be as follows:

Play Hockey, join Tring, be good enough(!) to play for the 3s.

Obviously some people may not be able to fulfill these criteria. We are working on criteria for 'honorary' membership.
